SOB and fever spike

Last night as I was falling to sleep, I began feeling SOB. I got out of bed, took a bronchodilator, and tried to regain control. That was only my second such experience, so it's still a bit new and scary to me. But my problem was that after I finally got back to normal and climbed into bed, I started feeling feverish. Within 30 minutes, I had a low-grade fever (100.4) and was shaking uncontrollably even though I wasn't chilled. I always get chills with a fever, but I didn't feel cold at all. I just couldn't stop shaking now matter what. It got to the point where my pelvic muscles were aching because I couldn't "unclench." It was really pretty scary. I was ready to go to the ER, but everything suddenly stopped, so I just took a fever reducer and went to bed. Everything was fine today--no fever, no shaking, no SOB.

I read online (I know, not always reliable) that these symptoms can be anything from an allergy to a heart/lung exacerbation to a panic attack (and I'm currently leading a fairly low-stress life, so that's out).

This leaves me pretty baffled. I have no idea if it's all related or not. I'm just looking for some input or similar experiences. My clinic says to watch and see if it happens again, and to make sure it's not a flu. Other than that, they didn't seem to be concerned.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.
