... its making noise. yes, you heard right, its making noise. it ticks like a watch but really fast and after about 6 to 10 ticks it takes a second break. i thought i was going mad this morning when i was making up my drugs. i thought it was the watch sitting next to me that i use to time my iv's. i picked the watch up but it wasnt that and i just assumed it HAD to be the watch. but just then, with no watch around, i heard the noise again. this time i put the posi flow cap next to my ear. wasnt the posiflow. so then i put my ear down near my port. it was the port! WHAT IS GOING ON? is my port possessed by the devil rofl!?!

This is just a guess, but perhaps your vein is spasming. I have had vein spasms that sound like bumblebees as the noise echoes through tubing. It is really weird.

I have noticed that my port is positional too. Whenever anything odd is going on (like a slow flush or unusual discomfort) I try raising my arm over my head to sort of "reset" everything. That usually does the trick.

No idea if that would even apply to your situation.

my port ticks too! only when the needle is in it but it ticks! i've actually never asked anyone about it...just assumed it was normal. if you talk to your doc about it let us know if he says its normal or not!

maybe we got bombs implanted into us? lol!

i dont think my vein is spasming lightnlife. by the way, having to raise your arm over your head is a sign that you have pinch off syndrome. you should get that checked out. you dont want the catheter to break off.

Actually Kybert it DOES sound like your vein is spasming. I too had this problem for a while a few months back. No pain involved or anything but a ticking like a watch. You should probably tell your cf center and get a linogram sortedd for it. Luckily my problem resolved itself, but your's may not. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

im going to mention it to them today. they are probably going to laugh at me. i have such bad luck with ports! i have actually had some pain near the upper scar for the last month, perhaps that could actually be a vein?

Actually, I haven't had to raise my arm over my head for a number
of years now, and when I did it was because I was trying to access
the port while lying on my back. Now I can do it unassisted and
even without using a mirror. Thanks for the head's up about pinch
off syndrome though. I'll keep that in mind should I ever have a
problem again. I've had my port for 9 years now and, Lord willing,
I can have it for several more.
