soreness after hospital stay

<P>I usually stay in the hospital for about 7 days in a tiny little room with minimal excersize. i do walk around the hospital hallways but there is only so much to look at and places to go and explore.</P>
<P>when i go home to do the reminder of my iv rounds, my legs get so sore from walking around the house. it's not a big house but your home is consider a mansion after being in such a tiny room where you take only a few steps to get to the bathroom, your table to eat in a crappy chair, and then back to bed.</P>
<P>i am wondering if any one else has experience soreness from walking around the house after being in a tiny hospital room.</P>

Hmm, I havent stayed in the hospital for IV's for more than 48 hours in the last 20 years.....I always do them at home, so I have never noticed this problem. I do remember being in the hospital as a teen and taking hour-long walks several times a day. My mom equated it to a caged tiger pacing. I can imagine I would get very stiff and sore if I wasnt moving around a lot. Is there some reason why you stay in the hospital for a week? I know everyone is different, and has varying level of home support, etc, just curious here- I am always scared I'll pick up other people's germs and get even worse, so I get out as quickly as I can : )

Even tho I go on walks & do pulmonary rehab 30mins a day, I always get very sore arm & leg muscles. My legs even swell for about 10 days.
I did home IV's exclusively for many years, but when my FEV1 dropped to 23% in 2007, I started going into the hospital for better CPT & rest. Though my FEV1 is 40% now. I need to go in every 2-3 months to maintain it. I'm always in at least 14 days. I thought this was standard "clean out" time.
I'm extremely afraid of catching germs. I always wear a mask in the halls & only go on walks after midnight, when the halls aren't so crowded. I'm constantly washing down my room with disinfecting wipes.
Even though I'm very careful, I did caught a cold once & a virus that led to another 14 day admission 2 weeks later. My fear of getting a germ in the hospital is why my FEV1 dropped to 23%.

momto2- ususally the doc just wants to watch me progress. i have done home ivs without going to the hospital before. when i had a bad reaction to some meds, my doc said he will put me in the hospital for a week from now on so i wont have to deal with a bad reaction at home. will get better care at the hospital if i ever do get a reaction again.

Generally I tend to just sit in the bed 99% of the time im there for the various weeks too.</div><div>I actually have MORE energy after coming outta a cleanout then when im home actually working out and living my normal life, and feel amazing!</div><div><br></div><div>I almost wish they'd hospitalize me more often. XD</div>
