anyway I get rust colored when I get streaking but the blood doesnt come up right away, it has a chance to mix with all the nice green and then once blood is not fresh it starts turn browna nd the mixture comes out looking a bit rusty

However, I do recall when I had major sinus trouble (with polyps included), my sinus drainage was a yellowish color, which definitely had to indicate a sinus infection, since there was absolutely no irrigation in my sinuses at the time...

Yes, a few times because my sinuses dried out, I think the bleeding had mixed with the sputum so I coughed up some brown stuff a few times, but it was gone by the third or fourth cough. If it were to have lingered, I would've called the doc because this was a few weeks after my hemoptsys episode and I was still a little "jittery" about that.
