Hmmm...I have no idea Sarah. I'm always on Tobi or another neb abx. Looks like good results though! I'm so glad to see the Tobi worked so well for you. Just out of curiosity (and feel free to tell me to shove off here if it's not something you like to share), which bugs were you culturing that prompted your doc to put you on Tobi?

Just because you are on the meds doesn't mean THAT is why your cultures were "normal". I would imagine that they would be normal because the meds you are being treated with are effective against any bugs you did grow in the past.

I was on Zithro. and TOBI for extended periods and never had clear or normal cultures is why I say that. I had bugs that TOBI did not treat - though it did treat my Psuedo it did nothing to the MRSA I cultured.

I would ask for clarification though if you are confused. I would flat out ask the doc does normal mean - clear of ANY bacteria ... as in Only NORMAL Flora. That is what they tell me now post transplant cause I ask after EVERY bronch what my cultures were to hopefully rejoice in them being clear. They normally tell me they were great - clear with only normal flora when there is nothing to be concerned about.

Best of Luck and hope you get some answers from the doc - if you ask.

My son just finished a round of iv abx due to a 25 point drop in pfts. All the while, his cultures showed normal oral flora, which is odd for him because he usually grown staph, mold, sometimes psuedo, etc.

So, I guess my point is yes, CFers can grow a normal culture, but I don't always believe it. He obviously had his bacteria deeper down and couldn't cough it out for his samples. But if he were symptom free, I would be thrilled to see "Normal Oral Flora"!!!!

So, I guess my point is yes, CFers can grow a normal culture, but I don't always believe it. He obviously had his bacteria deeper down and couldn't cough it out for his samples. But if he were symptom free, I would be thrilled to see "Normal Oral Flora"!!!!
