Firstly a bit of background info!

I had a fairly miserable few months - attacks of dizziness, nausea, unexplained left sided abdo pain and very very fatigued.

Towards the end of March my chest started acting up aswell so I was admitted to the hospital for IV's (here if your chest isn't affected and your weight's maintained they tend to try to ignore all these other issues).

So after a week of IV's I could barely get out of bed, couldn't go to the gym etc so they started testing me for Addison's, sent me for a tilt test, colonoscopy and a bundle of other things..

Everything came back clear (which is good I guess!) and they couldn't explain it.

So just before I was being discharged (3 weeks later & feeling worse than I went in) my regular doctor came back from holidays and reviewed my case and noticed that I'd low cortisol levels at the start of the test for Addisons......(frustrating)

So here I am on prednisone for the first time and a bit unsure of it all. (But feeling much better & back at work)

I suppose my first question is
- Has anyone else experienced low cortisol levels and if so do you end up on prednisone long term?

And secondly
- We're currently trying to get pregnant; can you take prednisone while pregnant?

oh and I can't stop eating and my sugar levels (i'm altering my insulin doses) are all over the place - I assume that's normal side effects??

i'm back at clinic at the end of the month so I'll be discussing all this with her aswell!

Sorry my post is so long :)

My daughter had low cortisol levels last summer. She had steroid induced Cushings Syndrome from the use of Flovent. Since it was drug induced her Endo used prednisone for her and tapered it off slowly over 13 weeks.
I noticed you have wild sugars. Shelby had this also. To start with we thought she had CFRD, but once the Cushings was discovered and she came off the Flovent her sugars went back to normal. She was released from Endocrinology after her pred taper.
As far as the pregnancy I don't have any information because Shelby is only 10.
Another thing I need to mention. Her CF team did not discover the Cushings because it is so rare. I had to do it myself, but once I pointed it out, her nurse practitioner had her set up for testing immediately and got the ball rolling for her Endo. I don't think CF docs see much of Cushings or its not recognized. Good luck and take care.
