Josh has been struggling with ADD (attention and organization issues) medicines for several years. Most of the meds have offered little help with attention or have caused terrible side effects (weight loss, anxiety and sleep loss).
He's taken adderall, wellbutrin, concerta and metadate. Recently we asked about strattera, so his doc added it to the mix. She kept him on the metadate and zoloft as well.
He tried 10 mg for 2 weeks then upped it to 18 mg for 2 weeks. The change was amazing! A kid who avoided homework at all costs was spending hours every night in his room doing homework- even on the weekends. His progress report was awesome!
The other day he said he was feeling weird. Hyperfocused and intense. We went down on the strattera to 10 mg again. Yesterday he said he had been feeling very angry. He even punched the closet door! It may be an overload of meds. I'm going to call his doc tomorrow to check.
But I wondered if anyone has any experience with Stattera. Looking at the side-effects, it did mention hostility and others. Any input?
