streaking...while nebbing

The last two days while nebbing (alb, pulmo and hts) I have had very slight streaks of blood mixed in with my sputum. They were VERY small amounts, yesterday was in one wad of spit and today it was twice...aka there were two tiny streaks of blood. I am pretty sure it was coming from my lungs, esp yesterday, because I could feel some wheezing down in my lowerr left side right before I saw the blood.

This has only happened to me once before and my doctor was not concerned because it was such a small amount. I am not very concerned either, but I am flying out to visit family on Wednesday and am a lil concerned about that. Will the change in air pressure affect the bleeding? As for abx, right now all I am on is Aztreonam...I just finished a 14 day course of Zyvox and before that had 14 days of bactrim and levaquin (i think). My PFT's were 86% two weeks ago. I think I will call the doctor...but tomorrow is a holiday in MA (Patriots day) AND its Marathon Day in Boston, so no one wil be at the office till Tuesday. What if he wants to see me before I leave?

Should I stop nebbing for a few days? Should I stop exercising (not that I have been doing much of that, lol)?

I spoke with my doctor and he is not concerned. He said I could not take the HTS with me or just skip a few days and see how I feel since I am not having any other symptoms. I skipped yesterday and did my nebs today...and have not had any problems. I wasnt really that worried except that I was going away. I am going to take some Zyvox with me in case the cough comes back. So thats it.

That's a tough one. I guess if it was me, I'd skip my treatments (except for the Albuterol) for 24 hours, and call my doctor about your concerns about flying and maybe ask to start another antibiotic, just in case.

Sometimes for me, that little bit of streaking is old plugs coming up, and isn't such a "bad" thing, as long as it stays that way, goes away promptly and I breathe better afterwards (not to be confused with how it feels when I have a "big" (for me) bleed coming where I am SOB before hand, and then feel better when I start coughing up blood).

I hope he gives you the all clear, and you have a good trip .

Its a hard call when you arent use to it. For me if I just just a bit of streaking, even if over several days, I continue things as is.

If its more then a bit I stop the Pulmozyme first. I would be a bit concerned with your trip coming up.
