for me this would indicate that the orals were not doing the trick and we would do a round of IV's asap. The fact that you had the bleed in the morning pretty much rules out thigns like stress, straining during a task, or inhaled meds. This has happened to me a number of times.

I am all to familiar with the blood thing. Has your sputum ever been tested for Aspergillus? THis was always my issue, I would do antibiotics and then still not feel well a few weeks later, what I was told is that my PA got knocked down enough in my lungs for the fungus to grow and that is what would cause me to bleed. I am now on Sporonax all the time, have been for three years.

I used to cut back on the Pulmozyme also. I had an embolization with coils done last year and since then *knock on wood* things have been stable.

WIsh you well, I would consider asking your doc about fungus.

Hey so an update...

Talked to my dr. He said continue on prednisone and don't worry too much about it. We think it could be the tobra but we're not 100% sure. But he said to stay on everything. But yeah the bleeding is gone now, just took it easy all day and only did saline and ventolin.

bittyhorse:
i've been to the er many times, and haven't gotten any bugs that i know of (knock on wood)

thefrogprincess:
yeah i have streaking every once in awhile, but this was pure blood. no streaks, just solid blood. i've had it before but it disappears after about 10-15 mins.

welsh: yeah i've actually cut back on pulmozyme a lot so I don't know if it's that. I haven't used pulmozyme in probably 3 days.

mom2lillian: i've only done iv's once in my life, when i was really young. the doctors have never put me on them since.

thanks for your help.

yeah i asked my doctor if i cultured it awhile ago, but he said no. I have Pseudomonis auregonis (sp) and they picked up on a bug I've had before. Some long confusing name. I assume they test for aspergillus with every culture? If so, then no I don't grow it.
