Swallowing issues after Surgery

I had sinus surgery about 2 weeks ago. Ever since my surgery I have had trouble swallowing certain foods-- bread, crackers, chicken. They did ding up my throat a bit with the tube in my throat and mouth. I had a sore throat after surgery, my mouth was all cut up and my lip was cut.

I am getting lots of gagging and throwing up in things don't go down just right.

Is it typical to have swallowing issues after surgery?? I can't remember having this in my previous surgeries.

I know I have some drainage still from my surgery... could this be the reason??

I can swallow soft foods just fine...

I would follow up with your ENT. Have them scope your throat to make sure they didn't really screw something up when they intubated you.

I was mostly eating cheerios, soggy ones, and Jello. So they did a barium swallow study and it showed that food was having a hard time getting thru, no surprise there, but also that liquids were going down BOTH pipes..NOT GOOD! I had to swallow with my chin down towards my chest to prevent it, and then eventually I noticed things getting better over time, I'd say a couple weeks. But they werent worried, I'd say to maybe ask for a barium swallow study.
