I was wondering if anyone had tried telavancin, a relatively new synthetic spin off of vancomycin, to treat their MRSA. It is supposed to work really well, even on MRSA that is resistant to vanco because it kills the bacteria in multiple ways. I tried it last time I was in the hospital but wasn't overly impressed by my results. I'm going back in tomorrow and the decision will be try vanco at higher levels or telavancin again. So I was wondering if anyone had any input/experience.

Also, if you have been on telavancin, did your doc figure out a way to check levels? The company that makes it told my doc that they didn't have a test, so I just did a double dose (twice a day instead of once a day) and hoped that was enough, so really the lack luster results could have been because I wasn't at a therapeutic level.
