Temporal Arteritis

As if I don't have enough going on...now I have developed temporal arteritis and not knowing what it was went to eye doctor first because my right eye was cloudy on right side and normal on left side of eye...he found a small hemmora-idge and we were treating that. Have had headaches just over ear for many weeks and he put it to the eye. Well eye got worse...headaches were constant and side of head painful and swollen went to internist and got the temporal arteritis diagnosis...I had just lost all the weight I had gained from being of predisone for 18 months and now am back on 80 mg a day for 2 weeks and then reduce it down to a maintainance of 20 mg for a year...loss of eyesight and cloud will be with me the rest of life..nothing they can do..I waited too long. Testing showed I had had a few TIA's and he said if I waited much longer I would have had a full blown stroke. He said don't blame eye doc because he found a problem too and was treating that.Sorry to vent but enough is enough.

Pat,

That's awful! I'm so sorry. At least you got help and didn't progress to a stroke. This site is great for venting which we all need from time to time.

Hey Pat-

I am so so sorry to hear that...my grandmother had the same exact thing a few years ago and suffered some vision lost as well. Her doctor said that it is very hard to diagnose because the symptoms mimic lots of other things (her main symptoms were headache and jaw pain.) It is terrible that by the time they figure out what is wrong there is no way to reverse the damage. Hang in there!
