Not me. I go to a beach every summer for a week with the family. As long as I'm not currently on IVs, they don't care. Why would someone be advised to stay away from the beach?
I asked our pulm this when our son was first diagnosed (our family loves taking trips to Cali and both boys love the beach). She said that as long as the water wasn't contaminated or especially dirty, the beach was fine! She said to just use common sense when doing water sports... I think, in general, salt water and chlorinated water are both pretty safe.
And hey, if your kid swallows some salt water, they're only getting the extra salt they need. Hahahaa. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">
My 2 year old lives right next to a beach, he has swallowed gallons of salt water and he has never been healthier.
Although we do not live in the US so I am not sure what some of your beaches are like.
We live on a island in the south pacific so we are surrounded by ocean.

Emily, I would have thought that lakes, and natural water spots were worse than pools etc that have chemicals...guess I have a lot to learn! I am a fear monger, but also want Sydney to have a "normal" life so I am just going to have to get over some of my many worries!
