The big O question....

I have had hemoptysis for the past few years. It was very irregular then started to be a once-a-month or every two weeks ordeal. I had a bronch to check it out and they found that my lungs were clean (maybe too clean). So they concluded it wasn't an infection issue. (my fev1 is usually 95-98). I had a baby this past year and my bleeds were few and far between. I suspected a hormonal connection when I started charting the bleeds. Sure enough... after having the baby I decided to go on birth control. When my period week came, I had a bleed. I have since been skipping the period week (which is rumored to be safe as long as you have 1 period a year) and haven't had a bleed since. I have found such freedom in that! So I think there are DEFINITE hormonal connection with Hemoptysis that maybe doctor's haven't been as open to researching (since they don't know how scary it is and find it easy to pass off as a CF infection issue).

Thank you for the information. It is very interesting. I don't think I have noticed changes according to hormonal cycle. I will keep it in mind.
