the flu

hey everyone... so i caught it. the flu. and i tried SO hard not to! good timing... i got it on the first day of spring break. anyways, i went to the ER saturday morning cause they wanted an x ray to make sure it wasnt an infection. they did the test and i have flu type A.

soo.. has anyone had the flu this season? my chest hurts so much from coughing and its so congested. i've done pulmozyme and my vest when i can. but it hurts! does anyone have any advice? my first day of 'having it' was saturday basically, so hopefully by wednesday-ish i'll be okay?

THEY DIDN'T PUT YOU ON TAMIFLU????? that stuff is amazing if you can get on it within the first 48 hours of your symptoms showing up. i'm sorry you feel terrible though. i've gotten the flu shot AND the flu in the past so i know what your feeling. do you have any hypertonic saline 3%? anything higher would probably be unbearable but maybe that lower strength would be tolerable and would help you clear some of that junk out. ugh, i hate this for you! hope you feel better soon <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

no they didnt put me on tamiflu- i've never heard of it!
and i did get the flu shot <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0"> and somehow, even though it was supposed to cover type A, i still got it!
i have HTS saline spray for my nose, but not for neb. im supposed to have sinus surgery in 10 days and my dr wanted to start me on HTS neb after the surgery.
my nose has started bleeding from blowing it so much <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">
thanks for the advice though- i'll ask my mom about tamiflu/have her call the dr.

The only other things i would do is the usual, Get lots of rest, drink lots of liquids, pain reliever for aches, may some Mucinex for decongestant, Moms Chicken soup (of course, lol) and what ever else helps you to feel better.. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
