Most of the propane ones seem to be expensive (over $1,000) except for this brand: <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200359574_200359574">Northern Tool & Equipment Generator</a>. Have you heard of this brand before?

I also intend to start looking for used ones but my question is this: how big of a pain in the butt is it to do the conversion from diesel to propane? Neither my boyfriend or I are very mechanically inclined. There is a used Briggs & Stratton 1400 on craigs list for $450 that looks tempting.

Do you think pawn shops might carry these? Seriously, I know people are pawning a lot of stuff lately.

If it's just for backup and keeping meds cool, maybe a small dorm/office fridge?

We bought a Honda 2000 for treatments while car camping. It's a quiet running one (so as to be a little more considerate at the campsite!), not the open motor type, so it's more expensive. It works great. I've even used it once in a power outage for treatments. I haven't totally loaded the thing up yet, but It'll run a vest and a neb compressor at the same time. I know we can run lot's more, just haven't had to yet.
