Those little measurers for mixing HS

ladybug

Hi!

So, I got a little "beaker-looking" plastic thing to mix my HS in from CF Services. Well, I mix it in that and it works GREAT, but I am not sure how to clean it??? If I use tap water, won't I just be introducing bacteria? If I don't clean it, the HS builds up and forms a crust on the bottom of it.

Its plastic, so I doubt I can boil it.

Any suggestions how to safely clean it between uses???

Thanks-

I would call the place where you bought it from. They should know best. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

If I where you, I would start ordering from "foundation care" cames premixxed, and cheaper, but you have to submit the bills to the insurance yourself.

I actually don't mind mixing my own. That way, if I want to do a "less salty" treatment or "more salty", I am in control. I also don't like that I'd have to do the paperwork myself. I have 2 insurances, so this would be a burden for me to work on paperwork every month for this. Thank you for the suggestion though! I do think pre-mixing is a good idea for many, just not for me at this point. Plus, CF pharmacy is now doing a thing that when you buy 6 HS "kits", you get the 7th free, which is nice.

Maybe, wash it in warm soapy water, rinse and then soak in alcohol or peroxide...then rinse with distilled water......

Maybe check the cff website for some of their recomendations for sterilizing nebs.

Oh, EXCELLENT idea, anon!!! I never even thought about that! I think that should kill whatever was lurking in the HS or the tap water used to clean it.... I will do a soak (just like the cff used to recommend for nebs) every now and then when it gets really bad. Thank you for the great idea!

Chris,

Are you POSITIVE they're boilable? I dropped mine in with my nebs the other night for about 30 secs. just to "test it" and the bottom didn't seem very sturdy when I took it out. It also had "hot" looking spots that had become hazy inside the tube... doesn't that mean it was too hot?
