TOBI and sore throat

I have started TOBI about 5 days ago. I have just in the past day started to develop a sore throat and a definite raspy voice. It is uncomfortable to swallow and I can tell it is only a matter of days before I lose my voice at this rate.

I am wondering if there is anything that you all do that you find eases the sore throat that TOBI causes?

As of now I have found that HOT drinks tend to make it feel better temporarily. I am putting off my evening dose though because I know it will only make it worse lol.

Please any advice would be great.

Hey girl,

Well I was on TOBI for about 2 months on and off and I had the same thing. I had to stop taking it due to the fact that it made my ears ring. All I could do to help it was like you said drink some hot liquid. That seemed to sooth it. Also I would use the sore throat drops. They seemed to give me my voice back. Every ones body seems to deal with TOBI and pulmozyme differently is amazing how we all react to the same thing. The best thing is to honesltly try to keep your throat as wet as you can. If it doesnt seem to help. I would call the doc, they are bound to have other paients who have been thru this and can hopefully give you some advice too! Hope you feel better!

Ive noticed that after taking tobi after a week then my throat will get hoarse, right now, its getting a little bit better, but screaming and having fun Sunday didnt help either, coughing trying to move stuff around just makes my throat worse. Now my throat doesnt hurt I just have a hoarse voice but will take cough drops to help, it only helps a little bit tho. I always just wait it out until git goes away, it doesnt stay like this for too long before it gets better, it gets better when Im still on tobi, but as for the ringing I get those every once in awhile, but it doesnt stay very long maybe a few seconds then its gone, my doc isnt concerned about it. As long as it doesnt get worse, if it does then he might get concerned.

My reaction to tobi seems to very every time. For whatever reason I've been able to tolerate this go around. Its been an answer to prayer, because without it, nothing seems to work. At any rate, I've currently got a scratchy, irritated throat but no hoarsness this time. I'm not sure what to do for it either. When I was in college the hoarsness was worse back then. I remember dreading having to speak in front of the class with no voice. I had to have a couple speeches moved around.

Hello Hello,

Well consensus from my docs office .. stop TOBI lol. Ugh that stinks as I now have over half a box of TOBI unused, but I am glad at the same time. I will not have this sore throat thing after today. My voice is pretty much gone this morning - to the point that my CF Nurse almost brought me into the office for a "sick" visit when I called to get advice on what to do for my throat. She just knew I was sick.

I told her I have been feeling great actually, but the throat thing is highly uncomfortable. I slept horribly last night due to the dryness, scratchiness, soreness - everything.

She is talking to the doc and they are going to decide whether or not to put me on Colistin. I will find out later today. I have never been on Colistin before - so we will see what happens with that. If they don't put me on Colistin they may have medo TOBI 2 weeks on 2 weeks off instead of 4 weeks on 4 weeks off.
