My daughter never does TOBI while on IV Tobramycin. The IV medication takes care of the sinuses (which is why she uses TOBI) - so I don't see the need for both. You are increasing your chances of kidney damage & ototoxicity.
Would inhaled TOBI effect your kidney's?? I thought that's why the inhaled form was "invented", so that it targets the lungs directly and doesn't have all the wear and tear on any of the other organs?
If I'm on inhaled Tobi they usually stop it while doing IV Tobi. When I finish IVs they put me back on the inhaled Tobi. But I get a high dose of IV Tobi so that might be why they dont do them at the same time for me.
From what I understand, the inhaled TOBI doesn't affect your kidneys as much as the IV TOBI does, but there is still the risk.
For the poster that said that her/his daughter uses TOBI for her sinuses, my understanding is that it is used only for Pseudomonas?? Does your daughter have pseudomonas? <img src="i/expressions/rose.gif" border="0">
