Toe Walking... relationship to CF

Jena, from how you've described your DS, I honestly think it's nothing serious. Idiopathic toewalking is not a big deal. The exercises/PT are not painful or time consuming (roughly 15 min per day). I think you did the right thing. Honestly, don't worry about it - I'm sure it's nothing serious. As both the ortho and neuro told me - you would have noticed other problems if it were anything more than just tight tendons. JMHO.

Just had to add - When Emily was just starting to walk, she was a toe-walker all the time. We had a PT then because she was late overall with her fross motor development. The PT told us to always put shoes on her, and sure enoughm, she stopped the toe-walking. So, I read this and suddenly I notice that whenever she walks barefoot, she's on her toes!!!!! She's over 2 now, and I can't remember the last time I was AWARE of the toe-walking, but its there. She is active and fast and agile...I don't have concerns that there is a problem here, it's just weird! I wonder if she's always done it and I just didnt' notice. I'll be watchin for it now, to be sure.

For what it's worth, she was born with MI and she definately has pancreatic/digestive issues, Very interesting thread. Thanks!

I walked on my toes as a kid-- not a good thing. Ended up with bunions as a 12 year old. It shoved my big toe bone out to the point that I couldn't get shoes on. Painful surgery-- they had to break my big toes and let it heal back together in foot casts. It is a fun thing to endure as a child.

I did want to add i mis printed in my earlier post the wrong dx of zech..It is hypotonia--muscle weakness

He has fine motor difficulties and handwriting is crappy...It has alot to do with muscle tone about the toe walking...I do feel at least getting a neuro eval would be good though......At least you would rule out hypotonia as a cause in any case....
