Tons more coughing at night

Here it is 1:30 in the morning, and I'm wide awake. Not because I have a 3 week old baby, but because I can't stop coughing. During the day, my cough is mild and I barely notice it. My FEV1 has gone up by six percent since I had my baby. So, why is it that I lie down to sleep and spend so much time coughing? I do my Xopenex before bed, so I'm open. I've tried propping myself up with pillows and lying flat. Any suggestions would be so very welcome. <img src="i/expressions/coughing.gif" border="0">

Have you been checked for Allergies? Or at the very least on something for them?

I bet you are having post nasal drip from them that is keeping you awake. If your cough hasnt changed much during the day & you are doing nebs before bed.....I would lean toward allergies.

I am allergic to dustmites, dogs, cats and springtime (which isn't here yet in Alaska). I have two dogs and no cats. The dogs are more outside dogs in the summer. Hmmm... Well, I have taken Benadryl when needed before, but usually just when I have itchy eyes. And Benadryl makes me so sleepy. What do others take for allergies? I also have to consider the fact that I am breastfeeding.

Here is another thread where Amy (saveferris2009) offers some of her great wisdom on allergies. You might even want to check out her blogs more.

PS:

I guess it helps to actually POST the links LOL
