I took Colistin for a couple of months before Tx as a last ditch effort to keep me healthy while I waited....and it was inhaled. I never used it at home, it was always in the hospital.

The things that I do remember about it in the hospital though were the aweful taste, the dry mouth, a little bit of numbness, and that it foamed up so bad in the neb cup sometimes that it flowed our of the cup and we had to get a whole new dose. I am glad that I didn't have to use it for very long!!

Mixing it with sterile water (comes in injection bottles <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> ) has cut way down on the foaming issue for me (that is what the CF Services Pharmacy sends with Colistin now). I haven't experienced the numb mouth issue either.
