Transplant Bag

LOTION - I had a horrendous time with my skin getting very dry and thus itchy in the days after my transplant. I had a friend buy me lotion but I wish I had brought some with me.

I took all my meds with me just in case I needed them - i.e. things didn't work out and I was not transplanted. I ended up giving them to my rents and friends when I was taken in for surgery. Slippers or comfy socks were helpful. Something to keep you busy when you get bored.

I also wanted my computer pretty badly once I was more lucid.

I reccommend getting some of that dry shampoo that you can use without water. I wasn't able to take a shower for a few days and I like always having my hair washed.

Also, like Summer, you'll be taking different meds so you won't need your own.

I would bring lots of movies too.

Ok, great guys! Thanks! I think I'll use my ipod more than my book, it would be hard to concentrate on it. Shampoo and slippers for sure!

I didn't have a chance to pack a bag, but if I did, I would have packed some family members!! LOL

I was already in the hospital when I found out I was getting the transplant and I had absolutely no one with me when I got the news. My husband is the only one who made it on time (and he didn't have our son with him) and he only made it an hour before I went in for surgery. There was a horrible snowstorm that day and it made it really difficult for anyone to get there until either very late that night or the next day.
