Travelers Insurance for CFers??

Hi, everyone.

My boyfriend lives in Scotland and was planning on making a trip to America to visit me. The last time he was here, his insurance was high but now due to his age (37 tomorrow!) and his declining health (even though he feels better than he has in ages), his insurer cancelled him and refunded his money.

He found another that would insure his 2-week trip for a mere £2100 or $4200 in US funds. I've told him to just chance it, but he's the smart, pragmatic one (one of THOSE types -- ) who doesn't want to go into debt if he should be hit by a falling anvil.

Needless to say, we're both a bit dejected because we need to be with each other now more than anything. But my passport is being processed and, if you watch the news, you know that could be a while. LOL

Anyone know of any good companies with reasonable rates? I knew you all would be the ones to ask before I throw my hopes out the window.

hello, i'm from the UK and insuring to go abroad is notoriously difficult. Of course he shouldn't chance going without it, it's not worth it at all. I know people who have got into serious trouble in the past, getting unexpectadly ill and not being able to get treatment. i really wouldn't push that. He also needs to pass a fitness to fly test. If he is on the txt list and requiring over night oxygen that could be a worry for a long haul flight. He'd need extra oxygen on the plane.

However even i find it difficult (but not impossible), to find cheap cover and i'm very healthy. It can change from year to year as to who will insure, but always be definate you have the right cover. i'm sorry if i sound negative, but it really is a difficult situation to get insurance to cover travel outside of the EU, especially if you are really quite ill like your boyfriend. So just prepare yourself that it may not happen and hope that your passport comes through quickly
