Traveling

Anyone have advice for traveling and carrying all your medical
supplies? I'm thinking in terms of storage. I'll be going away for
two weeks and I always have trouble deciding what to put my pills,
medicines, nebs/compressor etc. Usually I end up using plastic
grocery bags and such. What does everyone else use?
Ziploc bags for anything liquid-like vials of saline or albuterol. A cooler with ice pack for my chilled meds like pulmozyme and TOBI. If I'm going away for 2 weeks I need to bring the indivudual bottles-but if its for a few days I consolidate the meds in to containers or something.
Its a pain. When I went away a few months ago for 2 weeks-I needed so much crap with me. The meds and machine took up a whole carry on suitcase.

I have a bag, I think it's called a carry-on tote which I use for
my drugs and med stuff. It's around 2000 cubic inches, but it
has wheels and a pull-up pull bar, so it works great. It's
wonderful for flying, because it fits under the seat in front of
you. I don't like to check bags, so I also carry-on a big
square suitcase. Since both bags have wheels, I can pull them
both on one side, or I can stack the little one on top of or in
front of the big bag. Also, I normally have another
"personal item" -- which may be drugs too, but I've never
gotten in trouble with an airline. I figure if I get any
grief, I can unzip the main compartment of the little bag and scare
them enough that they won't argue!
I pack the drugs that need to be kept cool in a small lunch box/bag cooler with a polarpac ice pack that I get from CF Services when we order tobi. I make sure all the meds have their prescription labels on them. Everything goes in ziploc bags, too. I usually put the non-fridge drugs in a clear make up bag with labels facing out in case the get pulled out during airport security. This all gets put in a backpack.

If we're not flying, I put a metal lunch box with all the enzymes and meds that don't need to be kept cool in our luggage. Then when we arrive to our destination, every thing that doesn't have to be kept cool is in one easily accessible container. I usually keep it on the kitchen counter or if we're at a hotel, on the desk.

i use zip-lock bags for all of the small stuff (pills, individual neb cups, etc) but what i throw all the stuff in is this great zipper travel bag that i got at an outdoor store. there is a company called eagle creek and they make all sorts and sizes of bags and compartments for traveling. i love mine! my nebulizer is small, so i usually just wrap it between some clothes.

good luck!

I have a quick question for you all, when you go on vacation for a week or two, do you tug your vest around? I was just wondering, I dont think I will tug my vest around on vaca. but I will bring an old massager that I have had since I was little , I use that and have hubby do my back for me. My other meds I will put in a zip lock baggy.

I have found THE best bag for Reilly's vest. Since she is at her dad's every other weekend, it gets drug around quite a bit. I have a collapsable (of all things) cooler. It is on wheels, and has a handle, so it makes it much easier to carry. And since it collapses, it is easy to store. Here is a link to one at Target. Target Vest/Cooler

zip lock bags and plastic tote bins

In fact, we just bought a three drawer plastic tote bin on wheels for Josh's IV stuff and then another for Jess. We plan on putting the two of them right in the car for our vacation at the beach.

Man do we all have a lot of stuff.
