Trouble STAYING ASLEEP

Good Very Early Morning All,

For the past month-actually, since right after my 28th Birthday weekend-I have had trouble staying asleep at night. It's been like clockwork the past two weeks. Initially, I thought I had a few symptoms of anxiety disorder/attacks. But since the first week, all anxiety symptoms have subsided-and staying asleep at night has been my only issue. My doctor, who I trust and confide in regularly, told me take L-Theanine during the day and Melatonin at night for sleep. I've taken Melatonin a few times this past month, and it hasn't really helped. I'll take L-Theanine throughout the day, and I like it's calming effect. I have been drinking chamomile tea before I go to bed every night the past few weeks, so maybe that is my problem. My doctor also prescribed me Lunesta, but I have yet to purchase. I did some research and am a bit apprehensive to use it. I get my cardio exercise in the evenings, but that's always a full two hours, at least, before I go to bed. This is VERY frustrating. As I fall asleep with ease-as I always have-but can't seem to get back to sleep once i awake in the middle of the night like I used to. I have no idea what to do!

Suggestions welcome. Thanks!

I sympathize completely. I dont think I have a hand full of good night sleeps since my daughter was born. I use to "blame" it on being a mom, but even when she isnt here or if she is sleeping fine, I wake up every 2/3 hours. Never a problem falling to sleep, but my quality of sleep sucks since I cant make it thru the night without waking up. I havent tried any meds because I am afraid that it will make me sleepy (which I dont need), but not help me throughout the night. I have tried sleepy time tea etc which does the same as what you have used. Gives a relaxing, calming feel, but doesnt help with the long term problem. I also havent addressed this with my doctor, but one of these days I will. It just seems to be a lot to address & this has been happening for so long that its not a priority to me!

When you exercise You have recharged your body and it will be difficult to stay asleep. Try to exercise four hours before bedtime or after four PM. There is a big difference

Since you like to exercise I have a trampoline. This helps people sleep a lot better. It works for me. Helps me to stay asleep after I awake in the middle of the night. I also think eating a fruit in the middle of the night is a good idea. I tend to grab a quick snack. For some reason with me, I go back to sleep into a deep sleep. Very strange but love my yogurts. I guess it is good for the stomach and has enough fruit to keep me asleep. Fruit is high in tryptophan (an amino acid) Try taking very slow deep breaths while trying to fall asleep.
