I use that same oxygen system. I do allot better when the oxygen is comming thru at full speed. I love my oxygen but I hate having it on beause I look like an old man. with COPD. My mind just is so much better with it on. I only take it off becuase I am having issues with the way I look with it on.

Well, I could say just get used to wearing it and looking like you do. But, heck, we are all a bit vain. Have you thought of using oxyview glasses (even with plain glass) http://www.oxyview.com/ to replace the part of the cannula that goes across over your ears and across your cheeks? And if you run the hose so it connects in the back and then runs down under your shirt, the hose is less obvious than if it comes together under your chin and is outside of your clothes. Some people get a TTO http://www.emphysema.net/tto.htm and ditch the nasal cannula altogether.

Thanks, guys!

Yes, I do breathe through my nose when I exercise... I had posted previously regarding a particular way of breathing my exercise physiologist taught me that is a certain count in through your nose (say 2 steps) and double that out through your mouth (say 4 steps)... So, I am very aware of how I'm breathing and do breathe through my nose with every single inhalation (and keep my mouth closed)... Its not very comfortable, but the physiologist said it relieves the air trapping that happens in CF so I am very conscious about breathing this way.

As far as how you look wearing it... I felt the same way, but realized I need it to help me jog, and I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a treadmill for home and still pay for a gym membership for weights, so I just got the guts one day to take it to the gym and hooked up. It was a difficult thing walking into Gold's Gym (with all the muslce men and gorgous ladies working out and strutting their stuff), but after that initial time, I'm ok with it. I even go at peak time now and don't care!! People have done a double take, but most don't even notice (or if they do they just look away)... And, at this point, I really don't care. If someone ever says something to me, that may be different, but for now, people are pretty nonchalant about it, which helps me to bring it 4X per week with me. If anything, people will probably start seeing me with it so often and just reckon "she's the O2 girl".... I know their minds are probably racing with what could possibly be wrong and how can someone on O2 be RUNNING?!?! But, after that first time or two, I just don't even let it bother me. Good luck finding peace with that. Just know you're not alone in wondering "what do others think I look like?" I still think that, but at this point I don't really care.
