has anyone had a tubal? i'm wanting to schedule mine and my ob dr. wants to consult with my cf dr. about anesthesia. he's not sure whether or not it would be a good idea to intubate (spelling?) me.

I just got an IUD (cooper, not mirena), which lasts 10 years. It seemed like a good alternative to surgery. I have heard that some insurances won't cover for a tubal under age 30 (just anecdotally).

I had a tubal in 1997 along with double hernia repair (OMG...)I did not have general anesthesia, although my doc said I could. I had a spinal and it was fine...no complications and my recovery was very quick. I would never have general anesthesia if you could avoid it.

my insurance covers it so i'm ok there. i just have to pay 15%. i hope they say they can just do a spinal or epidural. i talked to my nurse today and she doesn't think it's a good idea to even do the surgery on monday since my pft's were down and they put me on cipro and bactrim. i have to be back in my classroom on the 9th of august so i really wanted to get it done before then. i hope my dr. says it's ok to go ahead with it. i'll know more tomorrow.

I also have the Paraguard IUD (copper, no hormone). I'm sure you know this but just in case I just wanted to mention that a tubal will not stop your period only prevent pregnancy.

Also something to consider is if your FEV1 jumped and stayed 10-15% higher would you then maybe want to consider having another child? I bring this up because I was on 770 which I know will not benefit you but I do think Vertex 890 could potentially give you similar benefits. Just food for thought!

morgan is a handful and i was blessed enough to have one. my health already declined with having her, so i imagine it would decline even more with another. i know the iud's are reliable, but i just want to be done with it. i don't mind the period. i'm not sure what you are talking about when you said 770 or vertex.
