So the last week has been rather interesting, I've delt with some great nurses, a good doctor, and some rather...well lets just be nice and say....some not so great nurses, and some underqualified resp. people in their positions. Can anyone believe I had to explain the differences between a reg. neb and a pari neb, the difference between chest pt and no chest pt, I had to explain way I needed it. UGH. I had to explain that even with CFRD I am not on a diabetic diet and that I count all my carbs, and give myself my insulin. They did give me a good doctor though, that is staying in contact with my CF dr in Syracuse all the while.

On the down, side I have been getting winded and very out of breath just sitting in my bed, I don't understand this, does this happen to anyone else. My sugar are through the roof, I recently had my insulin changed from humulin r to lispro, hopfully soon it will humalog. They uped my lantic from 15 units to 20 unit, to try to keep my levels at a good number. They did a chest xray and it showed a plug in the lower part of my right lung. My doctor want to do a ct scan to show where the plug is so that if I can't cough it up they can go in with a bronch. and remove it if necesary. He also want a blood gas done, which the dr here thinks is unnecesary , I am pushing for it because I want to know my Co2 level.

If any one wants text me my number is 607- 972-4701.....

Hi Josh. I'm sorry you are having such a rough time right now. I really hope you can figure out what's causing you to be so SOB. I can't remember; are you on O2? Anyway, I'm thinking of you, and hoping that things improve for you very soon.

Keep us posted.

Hi Josh!
I'm sorry you are feeling short of breath. I also have CFRD and have to say that when my numbers are high, I get really short of breath. High sugars cause inflammation...bottom line. So, the good news is that if they are able to get your numbers under control, your SOB will most likely get a lot better...

Take care and I'll keep you in my prayers.

Hey Josh...

I know it is a pain to Teach Doctors about CF.
Get The ABG.. when I go in the first 3 things they do is
a X Ray a ABG ( Stat ) and O2. then they start taking all my blood, well seems like it.

Glad You got a Doc Who Knows when to Call a real CF Doc.
I have in the past gotten winded just sitting in bed , It was Pneumonia.

I hope You can get that plug out, but a Bronch is not a bad thing either
They can clean out some junk and give you some volume .

Hope You get to feeling Better Soon.
