update on my doctor experience

hey guys i wrote a week ago or so and said the symptoms i am haveing and was wondering if they where associated with cf and they were so i went to the doctor and let him do his thing off my symtoms, no gi, endoscopy no medication for the build up in my lungs just gave me dicyclomine and loperamide and sent me on my way. anyone else had a problem with doctors and trouble with getting a sweat test, i here cf is misdiagnosed alot with IBS and other things, told my doc also i have had pnemonia 3 different times, and always battled with upper infections and he didnt seem to care, and the last 2 times i had pnemonia i was in the best shape of my life eating right running working out not smoking.abdominal pain sucks. (anyway im just rambling on these meds are makeing me weird lol he did do i chemestry test and it was fine also a hiv and it was fine, he says its pry IBS i hope so but just in case im gonna go to my normal doc and see what she says tommorrow i had a upper gi done in 2001 and my NEU% was high if anyone knows what that is i feel dopy lol

Hi Ryan

I think you should go to a doctor who listens and really cares. I remember you stating your height and weight and you sound really on the thin side. You could have iBS and if you do seeing a good doctor is important as IBS is related to stress. I wish you the best and please find a good doctor

As many posters have mentioned, what clinic you have your sweat test done at is important. Did you have it done at a CF facility, or your normal doctor office?

did it at saint francis medical center cf center sent over to lab there so i could get it done i could not produce much sweat the fist time so she changed arms and the second time i did it i got a little more sweat but notmuch only one and a half rings and it came out at 43 ???

I was a low 40's sweat-tester --- 5 times tested prior to age 25 and always deemed "borderline". Below 40 is negative CF, above 60 is positive CF. At age 23 I participated in a study to have my genes studied as a borderline patient. 2 years later I got a phone call that they found one of the CF genes. I have been treated for the last 10 years and am doing fairly well.

Bottom line -- see a doctor familiar with CF to have them look at your tests.
