Allergy Shot Reaction

so just FYI incase someone needs this in the future and man I hope not. My doc is really very good and I trust his judgement but I also did a bit of reading on the net to see if I could find anything. Normally they would recommend extra doses benadryl etc but this negatively impacted my lungs last time so I was not willing to try it this time. He did say that the steroids take about 4 hours to get effective so in cases like this taking an allegra and singulair asap is ideal if I cant take benadryl.

So basically I have been on the maintenace dose for 17 months, whey now we have had 2 reactions in 3 months is unknown it could have to do with more being in the air but really hard to tell. He was thinking maybe I cant tolerate (frow whatever reason) the full 0.5 maintenance dose and was thinking of reducing it. I also asked how being pregnant would impact this because I feared having a reaction when I was pregnant as I did not want to take steroids etc. He said the protocol for allergy shots when pregnant (they are consdiered safe) is to cut dose in half and come 2x as often so 0.25 every otehr week instead of once per month. This introduces less allergen to your system at once but still gets the same net exposure over month, less at once means you are less likely to 'overflow your bodies capability handling it'. He said he had never had a reaction with this plan so we would try it for me irregardless of whether I get pregnant this spring or not.

So that is the plan, oh and tapering down from 60mg over the next 5 days, fun fun fun. Given I just got off of steroids I think my pancreas is throwing a fit and my BS was high already this afternoon. The jitters and hunger should strike tomorrow--fun stuff.
