using anti-inflammatory meds routinely?

I am curious as to what others use as an anti-inflammatory, what do you use and also how long have you used it. I have used alternate day prednisone at 30 mg. for several years. I am gathering info of what else is available so I can discuss with my doctor about me using something else. I guess I am also wondering is it best to use an anti-inflammatory for maintaince or just as just as needed during times of having a low PFTs.

RE: using anti-inflammatory meds routinely?

I want ot start taking GSH which an anitinflamatory that the body needs for immune purposes.

I've always heard that taking steroids (prednisone) is not good for long term use. I would definitely find something else if all you're using it for is anit-inflamatory. Another thing about long term use of anti-inflamatory is that research came out saying about 5-8 years ago that they could see long term use of, say advil / ibuprofen, reduces lung damage because of it's anti-inflamatory properties. Well.....ibuprofen also causes kidney failure (which happened to me after taking for long term use), so don't take that!

I've read recently that if you control the inflamation in CF lungs, then you're on the road to controling the disease.
