UV lighting killing pseudomonas

My friend mentioned the other day that they use UV lighting to kill bacteria in their water system. I thought hmmm... maybe it could kill pseudomonas. So I did some quick googling and found some studies that discovered high kill rates with UV lighting on psedomonas aeruginosa.

any thoughts? if there was any way to get the light into lungs... tissue damage?
