Megan, just so you are aware it is up to the home-health pharmacy how your meds come. Nothing 'comes' in the infusion pump balls, the pharmacist fills them; so if you want it just tell the home health agency that is what you expect and they should be able to do it.

I fought with my agency over this. They kept telling me that my insurance doesnt cover it so I called the insurance. The insurance told me they pay for the MED. It doesnt matter what method of administration its given in because it is a set $$ amount for the med.

The lightbulb came on when I realized that the balls are a more expensive method so it would cut into the profit of the home health agency, BUT my doctor ordered it that way & it was available tho not what the agency wanted to use.

I would never go back to the bags via gravity or an infusion pump.

My agency didnt give a crap about quality of life for me even tho they knew I was a Mom & my daughter & I were active etc.

To this day it still pisses me off....CAN YA TELL?! <img src="">

Sorry that its off the topic of the actual med. I would be concerned with the balls for this med tho since the med has been linked to Red Man's Syndrom & often needs the rate adjusted.

Is this rash also itchy? Is it better today?

When I get the Red Man's Syndrome I get terribly red (obviously) AND itchy.

You mentioned upping your Bendryl--I assume you take it at least 30 minutes prior to infusing the vanco? I think slowing the vanco will help too. I had to infuse mine over 2 hours too. It was a pain, but such is life...

Do you have the pump on wheels type thing, (the ones used in hospital)? The only reason I ask is that last time I used a battery operated syringe pump & that was neat to be able to move around while infusing.

My rash is slowly getting better very slowly. I feel like one big itch, it is very itchy. I take my benadryl 30 minutes before my Vanco treatment. I also do my Vanco over a 2 hour transfusion also now was doing it 1 hour. I do use the big IV infusion machine that they use in the hospital.

So far my red blotches are all over my back, my chest, my sides and my bootie, I think it may be on my head to because my head itches like crazy at times.. Which is a big pain all the itching and stuff.

I go in and see my DR Tuesday and he is going to take a look at it, to see if we need to stop the Vanco for a couple days. I just hope I can handle this for the next few days.

My rash is slowly getting better very slowly. I feel like one big itch, it is very itchy. I take my benadryl 30 minutes before my Vanco treatment. I also do my Vanco over a 2 hour transfusion also now was doing it 1 hour. I do use the big IV infusion machine that they use in the hospital.

So far my red blotches are all over my back, my chest, my sides and my bootie, I think it may be on my head to because my head itches like crazy at times.. Which is a big pain all the itching and stuff.

I go in and see my DR Tuesday and he is going to take a look at it, to see if we need to stop the Vanco for a couple days. I just hope I can handle this for the next few days.
