VENT ALERT

So for the last 2 days at work my boss has had a sore throat, cough, congestion, fever, chills, and aches. Classic flu symptoms! But here comes, everday, hacking and sneezing all over the place. Yesterday I got stuck at the station right next to him. I flat out said "I won't work next to you." He knows I have CF and that if I get the flu I'll probably end up in the hospital. But he won't even use hand sanatizer! I've been taking extra vitamins and drinking Airborne by the gallon. Hopefully I don't get this too cuz that's just what I need right now!

i dunno why but you get the same thing at school, i guess its a pride thing. want the bragging rights of "i didn't miss a single day of work or school or whatever. i know that i am guilty of hauling my butt to school when i feel like crap but i'm not contagious, its just the "cf sick" if i have something typical or even a good sinus infection i'll stay home though. heck if people stayed home when they were sick the spread of bugs would be so much less or like you said if they would just use hand sanitizer. but as a side note that has nothing to do with this, don't use hand sanitizer around babies and small children, the alcohol in it if ingested can be deadly but thats just random and ot

I admit to doing that - I don't have sick time since I'm a contract worker (and I hate it - hate hate hate). If I don't work, I don't get paid. That said - I have to be really sick to not come in. I don't mind losing a day of work/pay to have fun - but like hell will I pay a day's wages to stay home and be miserable.

If I got paid sick time - I would stay home. When the "real" employees who do have sick time come in sick - it makes me angry.

True story... I used to work with a woman who would come in to work when she was really sick. And she would post a sign on her office door that would say "Contagious... Enter at your own risk." This was her way of saying if you get sick, it's not my fault -- you've been warned. So everybody would steer clear of her. But she wanted to socialize, so she would approach co-workers at their cubicles to chit chat! It drove me crazy! Some people just don't get it...
