I dont know much about this, but I wanted to share that my daughter just got the 105 about a month ago and does 12HZ and pressure of 5 for 20 minutes. She is using the full vest so I dont know if that makes a diffrence. She is 4 years old. Just my 2 cents.

Sue, if you have the opportunity to check out www.respirtech.com and do a trial run do so. I have been using this vest system since January and I really like how well the vest fits (it was custom made for me). I also like how the hoses never pop off and it is preprogramed which is a nice benefit as well. Customer service has been excellent.

Sue,

I just got the Smart Vest and I love it! I had one of the old Hill Rom's and I was happy to get rid of it. Ask you doc if you can "try" another one. Try all 3 and decide which one works best for you. You have to be comfortable with it. All of them work basically the same way and do the same basic thing so you might as well get the one that feels the best for you.

I am still having trouble getting insurance to improve our vest. We have a Hil Rom that we have had on trial since last April. Now I think I would like to try the respirtech one to see what it is like. But if insurance won't cover it than we probably won't get one.

My question is: is there any prove that the vest is beneficial? I called insurance myself last week and was so upset with them. There reason is that there is not enough prove that the vest is beneficial or better than manual and he hasn't been in the hospital much. My response was that you don't understand that 90% of CF is preventative treatments and we work hard so that he doesn't go to the hospital. I asked if they would like to pay for more hospital bills and that the vest is alot more independent for them to do and more compliant. She said unless the doc could come up with some prove that it would still be denied. UUHG

I am sure Julie could help with this, but if you cant prove that the Vest is beneficial or better then maybe use MORE COMPLIANCE versus not having ANY cpt. I realize it is a bit extreme, but not totally off base. Just a thought!

There is a peer-reviewed, published clinical study on the site comparing manual CPT to HFCC
