Video Montage Question

I have a quetion for those who have created a Great Strides montage. If I want to add a song that I downloaded from iTunes, is that legal? Also, should I create it in Windows Movie Maker and then post it on youtube? I'm assuming the file will end up being too big for me to just email the file to friends so I need a site that will host it for me.

Thanks for any advice....I'm a total newby at this. I know how to create a montage, it's how to share it that confuses me. I've seen One True Mewdia montages, but I don't remember there being many songs from which to choose.

Hi Tonya,

One True Media lets you upload any song you want to your project. So if you own it from itunes, you can upload it, just like you upload your pictures or video clips.

I like One True Media because you can use their codes to embed the video onto a web page, share with facebook, or put links into e-mails. But you can still keep it "private" in that its only accessible through your linking it, not by someone just searching for it. If you create something with windows movie maker you'll have to upload it to a sharing site. you tube is one, but you tube is searchable and not private. Photobucket is better, as you can get links to embed or share your creation, but there is no editing on the site. Dropshot lets you share from their site, but only with links to the site, you can't embed into a website.

Basically, it really depends on what you are trying to do. I have edited my own stuff before, but find the tools on One True Media easier and quicker for my montage and its easier to share as well.

Thanks Heather,
Can you choose any song you want without paying for the monthly membership? If I have to do the paid membership, do you pay for the number of months you want the video viewable, or just one month while you are creating it?

Your video will always be viewable. Paying for the membership is just if you want to be able to use some of the premium features....like different fonts and different colors for the text slides. You can upload music for free too. I made a perfectly fine one the first year, totally for free. Now I pay for the yearly membership, because it comes with a free DVD of the movie and I like that since I can share it with my CF center and our CFF rep likes to show it around too. It also lets you download the full high def version to your computer, which is nicer to have than the lower def one that is online viewable.

Again, it all depends on what you want to do, but you can do quite a lot with it for free.
