Waiting for a bed

I am waiting for a bed at the local hospital. Going to do approx. 1 week tune up and then sinus surgery on the 24th.

My bags are packed... except for the last minute stuff. House is cleaned and I am just waiting. I imagine the respiratory wing is pretty busy this time of year.

How long do you usually wait for a bed for something like this (especially during the winter)?? Just curious.

I've only had to wait a few hours before but that was when I was admitted through the ER

We had to wait overnight once, but other than that we have always gone in as scheduled.

I was admitted on Sat and had been waiting since Tuesday.
This is a busy time of year.
However, at this hospital they have temporarily closed a floor which has caused the reduction in beds, and therefore the shortage of rooms....

So I waited for 5 days.

Since you are at home, and are not having urgent issues, they will just put you in a line up for when they get a bed open. The longest I ever waited was five hours. Good Luck, feel better

Good news!!! The nurse just contacted me and I have an admit date for Jan 20. Only 4 days of IV drugs before my surgery. Hopefully I will only be in for a little over a week-- total. Sure beats 2 weeks.
