Found out that i am a carrier. Which Total S u c k s. We want to have children but would like to make sure that they are heathy. I have heard of PGD with IVF. But the costs are making us think twice about it. Can anyone shed some light on this problem?? I would like to start our family soon. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Julie on this site has a great website, <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.cysticfibrosismaleinfertility.com.">http://www.cysticfibrosismaleinfertility.com.</a> Julie's husband Mark has CF and they now have triplets (about 18 months old I think), through IVF. She has a lot of information about the process and is always happy to share thoughts.

There is also a scholorship program for IVF. I know that Julie applied and was accepted, but she had already had the IVF at the time, so it went to the next receipiant. <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.inciid.org/index.php?page=programs

Best wishes with everything!

Hi Marie, I'm married to a man with CF as well, and I have not been tested to find out if I'm a carrier or not. I think one of the absolute best books for this topic is "The New Essential Guide to Lesbian Conception, Pregnancy and Birth" by Stephanie Brill. I know, I know, you're not a lesbian, but it's a great book for anyone who isn't going to get pregnant by having intercourse. There's sections about using a sperm donor (known or unknown) IVF, etc. Also, since it's written for people who are already going to have an "unconventional" family, it's very inclusive, which I love. Sometimes I feel like people are judging our choice to have children even though my husband has a disease, and it's great to have such supportive reading material.

Best of luck!
