Wanting a Tatoo

OK, so this is not quite CF related so to speak, but with Emily's new tatoo, it made me think that you all could give me some ideas! I have a daughter with CF and one without, she is just a carrier. I want to get another tatoo that has symbolism to both of my girls. I would like to somehow tie in a rose (for obvious reasons) with my daughter who is a cancer. Here are my likes.....butterflies, flowers, palm trees, flamingos, lady bugs, and the like...please help!

Your daughter is a cancer? That's not a very nice thing to say! He he, just kidding. =-) Of course I know you meant the astrology sign, not the disease. You could get a butterfly or a lady bug with something different on each wing; one wing for each of your girls. It would be neat to have whatever it is hidden inside the butterfly or ladybug's pattern, so people would have to look at it closely to see what it really is. =-)

I'm getting my second tattoo as soon as I wean my daughter....which will be soon. I also have one daughter with CF and one without. I was going to get something to signify her CF but then a friend of mine pointed out "What about your other daughter"? So, I decided to get something to signify our whole family.

I'm going to get two daisies intertwining(sp?) b/c me and my mom's favorite flower are daisies and this was the flower I had for my wedding. Then I'm going to get my daughters' names written in the petals or the leaves on the stem. Maybe you could do a rose and put your daughters' names in the leaves????

Where are you getting it?

Thanks for the ideas!!! I am thinking of getting it on my lower back, but haven't quite decided on that. Once I finally decide what I am going to get, I will let you all know

I hope that your children will not be needing you to donate any blood in the next year or two. The new tatoo & threat of Hep B will prevent that from happening.
Not to mention that it will be there when you're 90 and in a nursing home, but everyone else will have tatoos then too

Maybe that goes for the parents... but as a CFer myself, I can't donate blood anyway. And I won't end up 90 years old in a nursing home, so I don't give a damn. Mwahaha.

Anonymous at 7:59, having a tatto will prevent you from donating blood to the general public for at least a year (in some cases longer). If this mother wants to donate HER blood to HER children and it has been less than a year they will have to sign a waiver but the hospital can not prevent them from doing so.

Thanks Julie and mom of allie! I already have a tatto, so I know the problems that can happen. I will go to a reputable tattoo parler and get it done right, don't you worry your pretty little heart!

OK, so I just read my last post and realized that it may seem that I was bad talking Julie and mom of allie....that is not what I was doing, I was talking to the person who posted the medical implications post...sorry for any confusion! Oops, I often type faster than I think

Just as a side note there are already lots of people in nursing homes with tattoos. The whole thing about tattoos giving you disease drives me nuts. Getting stuff done by someone not professional causes that problem. That's like those little places in malls that do ears gross me out. I have al least 6 more tattoos I want just need to find the time and some one to babysit. As for ideas get something that has meaning to you and no one else has.

I just got mine too! It's a unicorn, (unicorn horns are said to contain "poison" that can "kill" anything)....it is intermixed with some Japanese Kanji (sp?) characters and says FU CF. My way of feeling like I can control this....

It has been 4yrs since my last. One is for my grandma she always had this saying about things that help you as you grow. I had it put in picture form and got it.
One is a leapord on a clif remind me that not matter how fast you can run there come a point when you must stop.
I have one to bring me luck cause well I'm Irish.
Another that stands for all things evil and one for all thing good.
And the last to show that love can make you feel high or it can break your heart.
I plan to get potraits of both of my sons and about six others. It's good I don't pay for them! Or I'd go broke.
