washing out the lungs

Am I the only one that gets this done fairly routinely? I thought that most CFers did. I never knew there were such risks with doing so! I get it done once or twice a year. Personnally, I love them! I feel like a new person after it's done. The worst thing about the whole proceedure in my opinion is breathing in the lidocaine. UGH!! Also, the last two times my doc did it he had trouble sedating me, so I was semi-conscious throughout it. And my neck and throat always hurt for a few days after, probably from being intubated and having my neck pulled back. But the procedure is short, maybe 10-20 minutes. My doctor always says he gets A LOT of stuff up.

I have been on months of IVs and still not clearing up very well. I can't help but think that it would be great to get the crap sucked out and get good and clear. He is going to put me under..more than they usually do for this procedure...He knows that I do NOT want to lay there and know what is going on.. I go to the doc tommorrow...I think I am going to go and set it up...I think I want to get really clear...

I have had that done a few times when i was little.. I don't know more about it.. I don't know if it's like a standard procedure cause, maybe not anymore, as you never really hear about it anymore. I only know that they did like a bronch and sucked loads of mucous out.

I just talked to my dad about it and he thinks my doctor wanted to have a look and sucked out the mucous too cause that was easy to do while they did the bronch. My dad said that procedure took like 1.5 hour ones instead of 30 minutes because mucous would keep coming and my doctor thought it was good to have it out..
My dad said that the mucous was back relatively soon though...

I hope it will help you
