WATER LEAKS IN COURTNEY'S SCHOOL

I am VERY concerned this morning.

Both Courtney and Cameron who go to the local middle school are home sick today. Lauren, who goes to the high school is fine.

My friend just called because her daughter that goes to the middle school has been breaking out in welts everyday. The doctors feel that she is having an allergic reaction to something at the school.

I spoke to the principle, and assistant principal last night at the track meet. They both admitted to major water leaks due to the flooding.

What should be the next step? How do we get someone into the school to check and make sure there are no molds, toxins, etc?

Courtney and Cameron both are having headaches and stomachaches, and as I stated on a previous post Courtney was having trouble breathing at her track meet last night.

Any suggestions?

Seana, yes, yes yes!! Get someone in--call the papers--refuse to have your child go there untill it's cleaned up! This is a matter of life or breath for Courtney! It's not only Courtney that involved...get going girl!

definitely do something - sounds aweful - back to school already? Are they on a year round schedule? I thought it was summer break now.

I agree with Terri. I would tell them that your daughter cannot come back to school unless it is fixed. Is there another school in driving distance?

Thanks for the advice all. I am going to the school first thing in the morning.

I have had issues with the school before, so they know I don't fool around. They know to take me seriously and I will do what I have to.

Thanks again!

We had a major leak problem inour middle school. The librarian ended up on disability, but the school tried to keep it hush, hush! She contacted the media & before you know it all these parents were ?? why their kids were getting sick. DOH came in & ruled that it was from the mold, mildew etc from the leaks. That part of the school was closed down & repaired this summer! Be that squeaky wheel. Your kid & others health depends on it!

Wow, sometimes reading these boards makes me think of how slack my mom and myself were on certain environments and just our reaction to things. I think you guys take your cf way more seriously than i ever did. I'm beginning to turn around a bit, but i just think it's funny. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but i guess i just never thought i was sick, so i didn't care about things like swimming in a lake, being out of breath....mold etc.

I'm kinda glad for that though. I think if my mom stressed over everything i would have gone nuts <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">

Ender,

Courtney never sees me stress out about her illness.

That is why I love this board. I can come here and let out my concerns and frustrations.
