Weight loss

Over the lest few weeks I have been having issues keeping my weight from going down. My doctors like me at 145 and I do to. I feel best at 145 not to fat and not to thin. But I keep going down. Yesterday I was at 130 and going down. I have been having issues with eatting things with oil in it or anything fryed. I have been having issues getting my treatments done also. I find it hard to find a good time to do them. I do tube-feedings every night. but somedays it gets so late that I am to sleepy to get the feeding set up. I also had issues with my weight as a child before my Dx. I was Dx at 13 and have never had issues like this before keeping my weight up. and why would it keep falling? I do know that this is just part of having CF but is there anything I can do to keep it from going down even more? I find it hard to eat meals doing the day becuase I never feel like eatting. Becuase of my coughing till I vomit. And then nothing sits well. I will be going to my new CF center on Dec 5th.

Aka2007,
It sounds like you are at least acknowledging the problem, so good for you! There are a lot of factors to keeping weight on. I can offer a few suggestions. I was down to about 104 a few years ago. I started drinking those carnation breakfast drinks and using Skandishake. Skandishake is a tastless calorie sprinkle that you can put on anything and it adds tons of calories. Your CF center should have some you can try if you have not already. If you are having trouble with fats, you may need a stronger enzyme. Talk to your doc about that. One big factor that you don't really think about being related to weight is your CPT. You need to get the gunk out so your body doesn't have to work soooo hard to fight infection. CF'ers burn calories just sitting and sleeping when we have things going on in our chests. Another thing that really changed things for me was nexium. If you are dealing with a lot of acid, it makes it difficult for your body to absorb what it needs. I have gone from 104-130 in the last year keeping some of these things in mind and paying closer attention. I now have to kind of watch my weight. Good luck to you, keep on keepin on!!
