I can honestly say I know how you feel. My doctors love seeing me at 125 or more, but I hate the way my clothes fit and I just feel...ugh.

When I have wanted to drop a few lbs., (seeing that I have been as high as 138 at 5' 1", and small boned- now I'm about 120), I switched to eating fruits and vegetables, instead of snack cakes, candy, icecream and cereals that I thought were good for me, but actually had twice the carbs per serving than, say, Lucky Charms ! I did still let myself have something "bad" every once in a while. I lost the weight, didn't feel hungry (for the most part, lol), and felt better.

I usually tried to have things like "baby" carrots, grape tomatoes, vidalia onions, cucumbers, oranges, apples, grapes, etc. on hand for all my snack temptations (I graze all day long).

Whole grain or whole wheat breads are good too- they fill you up for a while . And Nature Valley makes some good "trail mix" granola type bars that aren't too bad on sugars, and have a good mix of whole grains, fruits, and nuts (depending on the variety) that are good to throw in your purse for when you are on the go. I also keep some packs of cheese and crackers, or peanutbutter and crackers in my purse or tossed in the van, just in case, lol.

Good luck!

Oh yes, I feel the same way. I'm small boned, 5' 4.5" and pre-pregnancy 110-116 (low normal for small boned). I gained and I'm still losing, I'm 126 lbs. None of my old clothes fit, they are size 2-4! I miss my cuter, larger wardrobe especially being a stay at home mom and not having me time/money to shop.

Exercise increases my metabolism like crazy. The difficulty is my intense hunger goes through the roof. I carry granola bars (peanut butter) and other snacks with me at all times and eat every 2-4 hours.

Oh, and I don't care what my CF doc thinks about my weight unless I truly get too low. She hasn't gotten savvy to the fact that anything above 115 lbs means I'm not exercising [enough] to keep my lungs healthy. I know it though and I'm doing something about it. I did spend money on clothes for myself last week- yoga pants and a pair of cute cycling capris. Old Navy and Target have some inexpensive and cute stuff. My workout wardrobe was sooo outdated.

i can completely relate to. i just recently lost wieght because i was sick. i was down to 105, they want me at 110-115. thats fine as long as its the proper weight. too bad i am sitting here in the hospital trying to gain wieght and i cant do it by working out gaining muscle. so in two weeks i gained five pounds. where did it all go?? my stomach lol. i look like im prego. so now that i should be going home today or tomorrow i have to hit the gym to work the prego belly off and gain the wieght through muscle. i have also noticed since i have gotten older i have started eating more healthy and watching the junk food and just trying to eat more fruits and veggies more often instead of reaching for that bag of chips. i have never had my drs on my weight before until this hospital visit so its a whole new thing to me and i am deffinetly struggling. my 21 and 5 foot 2 by the way

I think it is interesting that the docs are into letting you eat whatever. They encourage McDonalds and donuts. At least mine have always told me to go for it. Well, that is just not smart. When I cut down on some of those crappy foods it is soooo much better for me and I can tell the difference in my lungs. I eat sensible fat and stay away from KFC. That is just better health managment. Of course, I am forgetting to tell you all about the 300 lbs. of Easter chocolate I have eaten in the last couple of weeks, well maybe not that much Thanks for all the great advice. I think I will start doing small healthy snacks through the day so I am not so hungry at night. I have an insulin pump so that is an easy thing to do.
