The last week or more I have been having major numbness in my arms. I thought at first it was a nerve or something, but it is in both my arms.. It is like my arms are disconnected from my brain...

I am also getting a numb feeling in my head.. guess you can call me a numb skull.

Anyone ever feel this way???

You're not on Linezolid (tequin) by any chance? Side effects can be neuropathy. My kids got numb feet.

Nope not on that....

HMM I don't know what it could be, but it has me worried enough that I am going to go to the doctor...It started last week when I was at clinical, I tried to pick up a newborn baby and my arms wouldn't move right to do it.. I really thought it was a pinched nerve, but now that I have a head ache and stuff I am getting concerned. I guess that is what happens when you work in an ER and see the worst case senerios of everything you overreact.

Jenn, that is wierd...I am glad that you are going to the doc's though. With all of your problems it could be anything. That must have been scary holding that baby and feeling all of this...
Zyvox is Linezolid...that stuff is harsh! I did feel numbness from that one as well but it went away after the treatment was done.

Jenn, I sure hope the doc can come up with a solution for you...I will be praying for you. Hugs, the other Jenn

my wife's best pal had similar feelings in her arms and head recently, she also had a severe flu, turned out she had pneumonia, and the strain on her heart was causing the numbness, so please get it checked out .soon as

Funny that you should mention this. When hooking up to my iv this morning I had a shooting pain in both arms (from the wrist to the elbow) & a tightening in my chest then my hands went knumb for about 10 seconds. It scared the hell out of me, but passed. No problems since. I will mention to my doctor during checkup tomorrow or call if it happens again today. I assumed it was a pinched nerve from the coughing etc. I have carpal tunnell & initially thought of that except for the chest tightness. OH BOY ALWAYS SOMETHING! Be careful Jen!

I've had similar symptoms, but what happened to me is the numbness would start in my fingers and work its way up my arm then to my head/tongue, and sometimes I'd notice something funny with my vision, you know when you look into a bright light for a while and a halo effect appars, my tongue gets tingly and numb like and sometimes it even affects my speaking and I feel confused sort of if that's the right way to describe it, I'm thinking straight in my mind but the words just dont want to come out fluently? If I let it go this far then comes a crashing migrane and sometime nausia. I thought it may be signs of diabetes but everytime I've checked for this it's negative. I've researched it and read that sometimes your energy stores can get low and cause these symptoms with CFers and at the initial onset to have something sugary like a soda or juice. I've tried this and it seems to do the trick, every once in a while I still get it. Maybe give it a try and see if it helps.

Read this and thought of this post. Isn't it the central nervous system Jennifer is talking about being effected... Do you also have sinus problems?

Quote: Mucocele and mucopyocele associated with chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps can cause erosion of the sinus wall, resulting in central nervous system complications from the space-occupying effect of mucopyocele or from associated complications.

Lauren your article gave me a headache and makes me want to hide under my bed!!! LOL!

No it's a good article it's just those kinds of articles somehow always manage to make CF so much more terrifying than it is. I mean it is terrifying I know but man listing EVERY possibility out could just make a person crazy!

It's the kind of article I always hope new CF parents don't read or friends google up when they are trying to learn about it....it's just SO much and nothing about how everyone is different and usually you don't have ALL syptoms to the worst degree...it's just like Darth Vader breaking the news to Luke.....

..a fine article for us and those who are not new to the game (we've seen the movie we know what's up)...but the kind article newbies should steer clear of! Okay that was my side trip rant on terrifying CF articles. Sorry for digressing.

Hi Jen, my name is Philip and I'm 31 years old. My symptoms are the same except I've noticed it happens right after I cough and then blood comes up. My doctor says its a momentary loss of blood pressure thats why it affects the eyes and head.Unfortunately I have them like once a month and are very seveire.I caint control any limbs and sometimes I caint see for awhile. They have done ct scans and all kinds of tests, but the docs caint find out why I have them. Ive researched it and thought it might be something called Intracranial Pressure. If I hear anything I'll post it Good Luck.

Jennifer,

Do you have CFRD? I know numbness is a big symptom in regular diabetics, but not sure how it manifests in CFRDers. That's the only thing I can think of.

I've actually also had that happen when my IV was running once and I was trying to highlight my homework. I just got numb and dropped the marker and like couldn't move. I freaked out. Musta been a twisted nerve or something cause it got better in a few minutes, but boy was it scary! Interested to know what it was and if it had to do with the PICC or meds.

Good luck getting answers, Jennifer. Hope you feel better!

Hey Jen,
I think it is good you are going to the doc. I have had these symptoms before too but normally get them when my blood sugar is low or extremely high. I don't know if you are on prednisone, but I remember when I was on prednisone last year when I was hospitalized I had not so much numbness as my arms felt "rubbery" like they were attached to me but I had no control over them and I would get these killer headaches - it felt like my eyes were going to blow right out of my face. Every time I had these symptoms and checked my Blood Sugar it was 300+ from the steroid doseage they had me on. I would take insulin to lower my bs and then as it lowered the feelings would go away.

I don't know if that is what the problem is with you, but wanted to share my experience with those symptoms and the cause for me.

Lindsey

Hope you get to feeling better and the doc can let you know what is going on.

Jenn, you never are simple are ya?? LOL...seriously though, I hope your doc does figure you out. Have you ever injured your neck at all? I know people who have numbness or pain in their arms from pinched nerves in their necks depending on where the injury is. Maybe a CT or MRI scan would be a good idea unless you have already been through those lovely tests already and didn't find those type of problems. Anyhow...I do wish you the best and god speed in figuring you out. You must be so frustrated. I am thinking and praying for you...Hugs, Jenn
