Weird times at the gyno--am I the only one?

I am now 47 still having periods, but I have always had thick mucus. When I was 18 I quit having my period for 8
months, nobody could figure out why. We didn't know I had cf then. I started having them again, and they were more often then regular. But, I tried to have kids but nothing happened. When I went to the Dr for invitro, they told me my mucus was so thick there was no way any sperm could ever get through. They put me on guifenisen 4 times a day, but it didn't help. I later adopted the best little girl in the world.

It's weird because I have seen at least 6 different OBs in my life, and no one has ever commented on my CM. Even when I asked my RE about it while he was down there, he said "engh...it's a LITTLE thicker than normal." He also commented that I had a lot of it, though. I needed IUI to get pregnant, so I guess, in my case, even just a little bit thicker is a problem.

I love these forums. The situations that occur are amazing.

My personal suggestion, ( I am 46 years old with CF, and post bi lateral lung tx) ask your CF team for a doctor that is familiar with CF. You don't have to go through this all the time. Real nice to be told "your weird", I would want to tell them "No, not for someone with my medical history".

Stand up for yourself, and get the right doc. I go to a high risk pregnancy OB/GYn doctor and he knows all about CF. Also, have the OB/GYN talk to your CF team, so they can get educated...
