I would say if this continues or you start to feel really stuffed up but aren't blowing much out no matter what color it is then you probably have a sinus infection. Having said that, I've had a couple similar experiences, and I was fine after ward. With Cfers and all of our weird mucus issues its hard to say why it happens.

Thanks for the insight everyone. You put my mind at ease. I will wait and see if anything else happens that indicates infection... I have been told that since I'm resistant to all oral antibiotics, even for a sinus infection I'd have to go on IVs.... blah. So, I will only take this next step if I'm willing to be admitted for a cleanout and think its that bad.

lol--now this is something that i have always wondered about but i would have NEVER in a million years thought to ask it or expect to read about it on here!!

yes, sonia, i have had visits from the little green guys for my entire life and it is most often at times that are totally unexpected. in otherwords, it's NOT during or after i'm sick, or when i'm getting sick, or when allergies are acting up, and certainly not when i have a sinus infection. i am always kind of amazed at these foreign-looking things that come out of my body and YES they do taste horrible.

if i were you, i would relax about the possibility of being or becomming sick.

hahaha wow! I thought I was the only one. But I am telling ya I am a seasoned veteran with these brocoli looking green guys..I have had like 8 sinus surgeries so I do have a pretty bad case of sinusitis. It's good to keep up there clean because it harbors infections for the lungs.
If you only had a few pop out from up there I think you are fine. Mine come out all year round, but it seems a bit more when I have an exacerbation. When I go to ENT visits my doctor loves to see how many of those he can get out from up there, it is an aweful procedure but I feel so much better when I leave his office. If it looks real bad up there then we usually opt for surgery so he can get way up into my sinuses.
This is very gross but sometimes I can feel a piece (yuck) start to move down from my sinuses and I have to like blow for sometimes a good hour (no joke) to work it out..when it comes out I am telling it is amazing that it actually came out of my head! Sometimes they are as big as quarters...very smelly and once one even flew out and stained my jeans.
Sorry for the graphic stuff, I am at work and bored..but I am telling ya how it is!

According to my ENT I have good looking sinuses for a CFer, but there have been times (usually while on IV's) that I have had a glob of crab break loose & move down from my head into my throat. It happens so quickly & is so hard, big & green (sorry to be graphic) that I choke/gag. Yet I can actually feel the difference after its moved. Go figure!

huh, wow i never even thought about them as something CF like - i
figured everyone would have them - now i feel like an idiot
for thinking that hehe. I get them at random times not
related to health status. They tend to tickle the top of my
nose and make me sneeze until i can blow them out. Gross
xxxx
Speaking of gross things - i went to see Evil dead the musical last
night - very funny!
