What is colistin?

it is the premixed colistin that they had a problem with. the pharamacy that i actually got my colistin through sent me 60 viles, along with the sterile water to dilute it with. they gave me 2 viles for each day. once i mixed my medicine and pulled out what i needed they have me throw the rest away. i haven't heard of a problem with the stuff you mix yourself though. i may be wrong though. oh and to answer someone else's question i haven't had a problem at all with colistin like i did with tobi.

I've inhaled both Colistin and Tobi as well as tobramycin. I used tobi for probably 10 years without issues. A couple years ago Tobi started making me really short of breath so I had to stop using it. Colistin can cause shortness of breath as well, but as rule I think Tobi is better tolerated since it was forumlated for cf patients. Now days I do inhale Colistin and many people have no problem with that.
