You guys really gave great answers. BTW, Skye, I loved your first post in the thread -- very funny. Since everyone really covered everything, I have only one thing to add. When I bought my new car a few years ago, my doctor wanted me to get one that had been manufactured earlier in the year (the date is on the car). This way some of the gassing off will have occurred. There were cars that I test drove, that the fumes were overwhelming. My boyfriend leased a BMW last year that was a demo - it had 2,000 miles on it -- was in perfect condition but had been manufactured 6 months or more before. I would do this again. It hardly smelled at all.
And of course, as mentioned by CF Hockeymom, the windows have to be up -- the car exhaust is terrible, especially the diesel from trucks (there are studies on how this damages lungs) My doctor would like me to get an air filter for my car. She has one that she uses with an inverter that plugs into the lighter. For now, I also keep the recycle button on the heater/ac.
And as far as a Corvette -- it's a family car. It's an all purpose car. It can be anything. At least that's what I tell my boyfriend whenever he hurts his back getting out of mine and he wants me to sell it. Never!
