What to get a 6 year old?

My niece is 6 years old and going in for heart surgery (she does not have CF), and we want to get her some fun gifts while she's recovering. I'm figuring since she'll be in ICU for a few days we might just wait to have the gifts sent to her house once she's back. She'll have about a 2 week recovery time at home.

What would be some good suggestions for us to get her? The gift will be mailed so it can't be too heavy. Any ideas? I was thinking of getting her a bunch of little things that will make her happy and help pass the time.

I figure there are so many parents on here with similar age girls, you might be able to help me, b/c I don't really have a clue. I do know she loves princesses.

Thanks!!!!!

Webkinz are awesome, if she has a computer (stuffed animal, with a code that you use on-line to dress them, make their room up, play games, etc. Kid friendly/parent controllable). My girls love stickers, markers, activity books - and you can definitely find those in princess themes. Polly Pockets are small, have neat accessories, and have lots of play value (think very tiny Barbies). There is a set that comes with little sparkly animals now - very popular! Littlest Pet Shop - anything they make is fun. There are also magnet dress up sets, think paper dolls but magnetized. "Melissa and Doug" makes a set, I think. Have fun shopping! I hope your neice recovers nicely - I will say a prayer for her.

I have a little boy, but he LOVES drawing -- maybe some sort of drawing kit, pad, bright markers or crayons... I think I saw some crayola ones at Target with princesses...

Maybe one of those big activity books? That has the coloring pages, the mazes, dot to dots, hidden picture game, etc. and a nice big box or crayons and/or markers? Oh, and a bag/organizer of some sort to keep it all in, so she can drag it to her doctor's appts. afterwards .

Oh! I also found a book the other day that has the plastic stickers that are reusable- vinyl maybe?- that has a town fold out page where you can decorate your town (people, pets, cars, etc.) and has a short story that you can put the stickers in the sentences- it was pretty neat.

I will be praying that she comes through her surgery well.
